Background on High School Dropouts

It’s been known for years that young people who do not earn a high school diploma face many more problems later in life than people who graduate. Dropouts are more likely to be unemployed, have poor health, live in poverty, be on public assistance, and be single parents.

National leaders have demanded that schools, communities, and families take major steps to retain students but the dropout rate remains high. Every 29 seconds, another student gives up on school, resulting in more than one million American dropouts a year – or 6,000 every day.

What defines a dropout?

Dream GEMS

Dream GEMS is alternative to Dream Aversity. Dream GEMS will focus its energy on girls in grades 7 to 12. Our team of professionals and volunteers will assist our members with the skills and knowledge needed to develop into positive female role model. Members will receive guidance and information encouraging them to become positive and critical thinker, build character, promote self-respect, learn to cope with life issues and create leadership skills. Our members will provide support for younger girl members.

Dream TV

Dream TV is a creative marketing concept that will allow members receive a better understanding towards their college of interest. The concept flows off a platform of allowing institutions of higher learning market their institution in a direct format to our members through 30 second advertisements throughout the entire school year. The members will have the ability to learn about the basic of that institution; tuition cost, scholarships, campus life, organizations, majors and so forth. Once the member receives a vivid picture of that institution, he or she would be able to speak with a representative from that institution or their school guidance counselor.

Dream Vision

Dream Vision will cater to the specific dreams of each member. Providing specific attention to detail of the members dream and vision assuring each member receives the tools, skills and knowledge to pursue that dream; from becoming a Doctor, Lawyer, Entrepreneur, Teacher, Banker, Engineer, so forth. Our team of professional will assist our members with determining the requirements and techniques to turn their dream into a reality. Members will have the opportunity to shadow a college student or professional in their perspective field or career similar or associated to their dream. Members who show a strong desire to pursue that career will then have the chance to intern in their specified field.
